Interior AHEC goals include an annual survey of health care providers
throughout our region to determine continuing education needs.
Courses offered through our office or in partnership with other health
care organizations are intended to reduce professional isolation and
provide opportunities to keep skills current. Basically, we are striving
to know:
o Who is out there? (various disciplines)
o Where are you working? (size and type of facility or community)
o What do you need in the way of continuing education?
o How can Interior AHEC help you achieve your professional goals?
The 2006 survey had 201 respondents from communities across the
Interior, and from disciplines as varied as acupuncturist to radiation
technologist.
Top issues for continuing education:
o Mental health/substance abuse
o Obstetrics/pediatrics
o Diabetes management
Top issues seen in clinics and private practices:
o Mental health/substance abuse
o Respiratory illness (asthma)
o Obesity
